Here in magical Morocco we have the perfect destination for a very relaxed, week long rafting holiday. Set in the magnificent Middle Atlas mountain range the river Ahanssel gushes fresh from the rocks and runs deep through a dramatic river gorge, you’ll feel like you are starring in a movie. And the beauty of this river trip, is that all the family can enjoy the experience and have a real adventure together, in this remote, intoxicating location. It is the perfect antidote to those winter blues, the weather is warm and the scenery is stunning. With a chance also to explore the mystical city of Marrakech, get lost in the souqs and marvel at the snake charmers. Morocco will delight you in so many ways.

We suggest that all of our clients from the UK and Europe check out the best deals on Skyscanner which will list all options from your nearest airport. Many “low cost” airlines such as Easyjet have excellent options from London, Edinburgh and Manchester and Ryanair from other airports in the UK. Scheduled flights can be taken with Royal Air Maroc from North America into Casablanca and then connecting flights through to Marrakech (airport code RAK). For U.S. customers, we suggest trying Exito Travel for a competitive quote. Please note to fly in on Day 1 as listed below (anytime) and depart on the last day (anytime). We can of course organise extra nights for you if that gives you cheaper flight options. Please do not book your flights until the trip is CONFIRMED to run by our office.
In order to secure your place just pay your deposit of £600 per person (U.S. customers pay USD $750). Your final trip payment is not due until 90 days before your trip. See our Terms and Conditions for full payment terms.
Prices shown in GBP & USD are payable. UK residents should pay in GBP and USA residents should pay in USD.
We find most of our clients have in their posession already what is needed for a river trip. We have broken down here the items into what you’ll need on the river and in camp. Each guest will get a drybag to use for the river trip distributed at your Pre-departure meeting in Marrakech. A short video on the size of this and how to pack your drybag can be viewed here. An equipment list of what you will require for your Moroccan adventure will be sent to you prior to your departure along with your Water By Nature Travel Bag and other goodies.
You do not need to bring tents or sleeping mats.
We provide personal flotation jackets, leg floats, spray jackets, helmets and wetsuits and booties – but make sure that we have your weight, height and shoe size for wetsuit sizing.
At the pre departure meeting you will be given a dry bag. Into which you will pack all you require for the trip, including your sleeping bag and camping mattress. Your travel / duffle bag and valuables will be left securely at our hotel.
After delaying my trip for a couple of years due to the pandemic, I finally joined the WbN’s “Hidden Morocco” rafting experience. I LOVED it – WHAT an adventure & “high” this was! Moreover, it was my “first time” rafting AND camping. The rafting was great fun, not a penny in the pocket, remote & intoxicating locations, going back to basics on the camp sites, learning new skills and pushing my own limits. In the end, camping went very well. After 2 days, I was able to build & dismantle my tent all by myself …! Met some lovely and fun fellow travellers and we were safely guided down the river by Lupe & Shaun. What a team these two were: great chefs, professional, helpful & always positive, communicative between themselves and towards us, they looked after us very well – they were great & fun to be around.
At the end of the trip, they asked for our feedback: we just could NOT come up with anything negative about this experience. I personally wished I had joined WbN a decade or so ago; their destinations are so interesting and just all over this planet.
A BIG “thank you” to Lupe & Shaun and the excellent support from the office staff, making this trip to be a forever lasting memory.
I cannot speak highly enough of Water By Nature. The perfect mix of epic adventure with home-comfort style camping (think home-made lasagne on the camp-fire, G&T and comfy sleep kits).
The laid back approach belies a five star attitude to safety. I’ve enjoyed trips through Africa, Turkey, Nepal and most recenlty Morocco with Hamish and his team.
WBN have also successfully introduced my 2 teenage daughters to the adventure holiday concept. That alone is worth the gushing review.
Already planning our next river trip with this awesome crew.
We have just returned from a fantastic journey/experience/rafting down the Ahansal River. We (my husband, 15yr old daughter and I ) always try to pick an ‘adventure type’ of holiday and this didn’t disappoint. If you like the outdoor life, camping and the water, this is perfect. The rafting was fun and we always felt safe with a very professional, but fun team looking after us. The food was 5 star , plentiful and delicious (even for my very fussy daughter). The organisation of this trip was superb from start to finish, the only downside to this holiday was coming home. We are now saving for the next rafting experience.
