This 10 day rafting adventure takes you the full navigable length of the Franklin River, deep in the heart of Tasmania’s Wilderness World Heritage Area. Our journey includes a day’s walk to the imposing Frenchman’s Cap, the monarch of the south west, as well as rafting through one of Tasmania’s most spectacular gorges. Accommodation both sides of the trip plus your airport transfers are included making the trip 12 days in total. Unpredictable river levels on the Franklin, mean our trip will always be an adventure — it is possible to encounter both very low levels and floods within days of each other. Whatever the level, rafts offer the best way to explore this unique wilderness. Join us for the trip of a lifetime.
Arrive in Hobart in the morning (before 2pm) and transfer to your Hotel to relax. At 6pm you’ll have a pre-departure meeting and a chance for the guides to check you’ve got the correct gear, and to get anything else that you need

A gorgeous scenic drive to the river nice and early this morning. We set up the rafts and have a thorough safety and paddle briefing before camping at the junction of the Collingwood and Franklin Rivers.

Today we will takcle the Log Jam, Nasty Notch, Descension Gorge and float calmly through the Irenaybyss and camp on the side of the river below the gorge.

Weather permitting we climb up Frenchman’s Cap from our base camp. We’ll enjoy spectacular views of the whole of South West Tasmania from the summit. Stopping over for two days gives us flexibility to make the best of the conditions, and do a bit more exploring!

There’s some challenging rafting through the Great Ravine in store today along with our first portage of the trip at the Churn! Tonight we’ll make our camp within the Great Ravine at Coruscades camp.

The Australian government requires all individuals traveling to or transiting through Australia, with limited exceptions, to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test at time of check-in. The test must be taken 72 hours or less prior to departure. Additionally, masks are mandatory for passengers and crew on all international and domestic flights.
Australia has announced quarantine-free travel from New Zealand to Australia. Travelers must have been in New Zealand for at least 14 days before travel, possess the appropriate Australian visa, and complete an Australia Travel Declaration at least 72 hours before departure. Normal Australian visa requirements will apply. Travelers returning to New Zealand from Australia will be required to comply with New Zealand’s travel requirements.
Entry to Australia is currently closed to most arrivals.
Travellers who have been in New Zealand for 14 days or more can travel by air to Australia and will not require an exemption. More information is available on the Department of Home Affairs website.
Australian citizens and returning permanent residents and their immediate family members are permitted to enter Australia without an exemption.
A negative COVID-19 test result is required for travelling to or transiting through Australia. Unless you are travelling on a quarantine-free flight from New Zealand, evidence of a negative COVID-19 test taken 72 hours or less before your scheduled departure must be provided to your airline.
Border rules including eligibility criteria can change quickly. Travellers should prepare for disruptions to their plans.

All international travellers entering Australia need to undertake a mandatory 14-day quarantine at a designated facility (for example a hotel) at their port of arrival. You may be required to pay for the costs of your quarantine. This is arranged by individual State and Territory governments.
Travellers who have been in New Zealand for 14 days or more can travel by air to Australia without having to undertake mandatory quarantine. More information is available on the Australian Governments COVID-19 website .
All travellers arriving in Australia may need to undergo enhanced health screening on arrival before going into quarantine. This can include temperature testing. You may also be asked to undergo screening or testing in quarantine.
