Magical Greek Island Sailing Adventure: Athens to the Saronic Gulf with Water By Nature

Sailing the Saronic: A Magical Journey Through Greece

There are trips… and then there are journeys that stay with you forever. Our most recent 9-day adventure through the Saronic Gulf was one of those rare and special experiences—a perfect blend of history, beauty, and joy, all wrapped up in the rhythm of the sea.

We began in Athens, where ancient wonders whispered stories of centuries past. For two days, we explored the cradle of Western civilization, standing in awe at the Acropolis and wandering through the vibrant streets of Plaka. By night, we dined in stunning rooftop restaurants with views of the Parthenon, glowing golden above the city.

From there, we set sail—and the real magic began.

The Greek islands welcomed us at their own gentle pace. We island-hopped from Athens to Poros, Hydra, Porto Cheli, and Epidaurus, each stop revealing postcard-perfect harbors, friendly locals, and unforgettable meals. Whether it was a humble taverna tucked into a quiet port or a white-linen restaurant with sweeping sea views, every meal felt like a celebration.

Days were filled with swims in crystal-clear bays, lazy lunches onboard, and good conversation under the sun. Evenings brought music—Glenn serenading us with his guitar, laughter echoing over the water, and a sense of connection that only the sea can inspire.

We could go on, but perhaps the experience is best captured in the words of one of our wonderful guests, Nanci Irving:

“We just returned from an amazing 9-day tour of the Greek Islands in the Saronic Gulf. Hamish and Glenn of ‘Water by Nature’ tour company were absolutely wonderful. Sailing from Athens/Piraeus to Poros, Hydra, Porto Cheli, Epidaurus and back to Athens with breathtaking views and stunning stops along the way. A very professional crew, while still giving us laughter, singing, swimming, prepared meals, fine dining every evening and lifelong memories. Thank you Hamish and Glenn for making us feel safe while giving us this special experience. It was MAGICAL.”

Thank you, Nanci and thank you to everyone who joined us for this unforgettable voyage. Greece gave us her best, and we’re already dreaming of returning.

Until next time
