Chile Rafting Vacations
Experience Patagonia
The Rio Futaleufu is no ordinary river. Born in the Los Alerces National Park in Argentina it flows west into Chile, through landscapes dominated by snow capped volcanoes and rich rain forest before arriving at the coastal town of Chaiten. Meaning ‘Great River’ in the local Mapuche dialect, the astonishingly clear waters of the ‘Fu’ flows through deep canyons and pristine wilderness to create explosive and untamed white water, unparalleled anywhere in the world. This trip is designed to immerse you in the beauty, magic and culture of Patagonia. Half a world away from the cold northern winter you will find yourself sitting on the porch of your cabana, sipping on a glass of Chilean red wine and basking in the splendour of the Chilean summer with the distant rumble of your next exciting rapid just within earshot.
Described by the locals as “a place so lovely it must have been painted by God”, this is an experience not to be missed.
Day 1
Although your rafting adventure is based in Chile, arranging your flights into San Carlos De Bariloche in Argentina is your best flight option. From Benas Aires, you will transfer to the domestic airport. On arrival in Bariloche you'll be met by our trip leader who will escort you to your hotel in this magical resort town on the banks of Nahuel Huapi. The afternoon is yours to relax and unwind from your flight.
Not included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 2
We take the scenic drive to our ranch on the banks of the Futaleufu River. This will take you through stunning frontier countryside where cowboys (Gauchos) still roam on their horses. We'll stop in Esquel for lunch before a relaxing float down the river to our camp sampling some Chilean wine and cheese.
Included: All meals
Day 3
Awaken to the sounds of nature and a hearty breakfast followed by a thorough safety talk before heading out onto the "Bridge to Bridge" section of the river. We will immediately plunge into the exhilarating white water of 'Pillow Wave" and 'Mundaca". A thrilling first day on the river, but this is only the beginning.
Included: All meals
Day 4
Enjoy morning coffee looking out from your cabana over the clear waters running quite literally beneath you. Today we will head towards Inferno Canyon for some adrenaline surging white water. But also some glorious flat sections to sit back and enjoy the feeling of complete remoteness before challenging the might of "El Throno". A well-deserved soak in the hot tub awaits us back at camp.
Included: All meals
Day 5
We have another great day ahead of us. A few, fun warm up rapids before we reach the legendary "Terminator"…. it's bigger than big. And if that isn't enough for you there is the superb "Khyber Pass" and the hugely exciting "Himalayas" to finish the day. On our return to camp we enjoy a sumptuous meal washed down with a Pisco Sour or a glass of fine Chilean red wine.
Included: All meals
Day 6
An opportunity to try your hand at fly-fishing. Or, for those of your wanting something more active, there is plenty of trekking routes and some wonderful horseback riding trails, catering for all abilities including beginners. Or simply sit back and relax at camp, the choice is yours.
Included: All meals
Day 7
A refreshing blast through Mundaca to make sure we are truly awake before another amazing stretch of white water including "The Fish Bowl" and "House Rock". This evening, you will experience real Chilean hospitality with a traditional 'Asado' cooked by our local Chilean friends and have time to recount stories from the past week, on one of the best white water rivers in the world.
Included: All Meals
Day 8
After breakfast, we start our journey back into Argentina for our trip home. Flights from Esquel can be delayed, so we suggest spending an extra night in Buenas Aires to assist in this case. Not a bad place to spend, salsa dancing, or just enjoying a cerveza in a bar before returning home.
Included: Breakfast
